I’m thrilled to announce that Feedback Labs was selected as one of 14 organizations to receive a grant from the Fund for Shared Insight – in the first round of grants they awarded since launching in September.
We applied for this grant because we saw it as an opportunity to collaborate with a stellar group of funders that are coming together to effect a quantum leap in the way the philanthropy sector listens to and co-creates with those whose lives it aims to improve. As we put together our proposal, I was most excited about the idea that we really do have an historic opportunity to improve the effectiveness and impact of our work.
Now that we’ve been selected, my excitement has only increased, because of the other fantastic organizations and amazing leaders in this inaugural pool of grantees. It’s a rare pleasure to get to work together with such an extraordinary group. You can find a full list and more detail on all the funded projects at www.fundforsharedinsight.org.
Feedback Labs has gotten more traction than I could have imagined when we started. We have doubled in size, and our members are among the best policy, technology, advocacy, service, and funding organizations our there. We’ve co-hosted meetings at the White House, World Bank, and major foundations to discuss theory and research, and our members have also launched collaborative, on-the ground experiments to see what works in practice.
This grant will enable Feedback Labs to greatly enhance its capacity to convene people, catalyze collaboration, and disseminate findings and good practices. Importantly, the grant will also enable us to increase our focus on the US domestic philanthropic sector.
Effective feedback loops require a combination of awareness, incentives, and tools. To this end, I’m especially looking forward to:
- Our series of LabStorms and BackTalks that will engage FBL members and the broader community on the leading edge of both theory and practice.
- The new series of Co-Laborations that we will be launching that support key on-the-ground experiments to test ways to effectively closely the feedback loop in specific contexts
- A special initiative with members and others to deepen our understanding of how citizen feedback data can be predictive of outcomes.
