Feedback+ in Montana

At Feedback Labs, our work is grounded in listening, engaging, and supporting communities wherever they are, including those who may feel isolated or overlooked, and we try to bring that value to our in-person and virtual events. We believe that high-quality listening prioritizes the perspectives of those who are historically underrepresented in listening efforts and most affected by inequities.

We understand that members of our community have legitimate concerns about hosting our event, Feedback+Bozeman, in Montana, given the state’s political climate and policies that conflict with our values of equity and inclusion. We recognize some members of our community will not be comfortable joining us in Montana and may be wondering why we’ve chosen to take the Summit there knowing that’s the case.

People who are at the margins of power and decision-making live and work in every state, including Montana, and deserve access to conversations that center their voices and experiences. Rather than disengaging from places where equity and inclusion may be under threat, we choose to show up with intention, fostering dialogue and solidarity. We have taken deliberate steps to ensure that our venue and event logistics prioritize safety, accessibility, and inclusivity, from accessible and inclusive spaces to direct engagement with local organizations that share our values of equity and inclusion.

Our previous Summits almost exclusively took place in Atlantic-coastal cities, and, as a national and globally serving organization, we want to be intentional about highlighting communities where listening and feedback are happening in various parts of our geographical footprint. In 2024, we moved west to Denver, Colorado and this year, we have the opportunity to explore another unique geographic area by hosting in Bozeman, Montana.

Our goal for all Summits is to bring together our geographically dispersed community of listening and feedback practitioners to learn and grow with people (and in spaces) with whom they may not have connected otherwise. Annually relocating the Summit affords us the opportunity to use the power (spotlight and megaphone) that we hold to amplify voices and opportunities that may not be elevated in more populated and conference-heavy cities. By hosting our event in Bozeman, we aim to create a space where diverse perspectives are honored and meaningful change can take root—not just within our community but in every place where inclusion and equity are needed most.

We recognize that, even with our best efforts, we can never guarantee safety and belonging. This year, we offer a virtual Summit experience with live events, streamed plenaries, and pre-recorded videos. We want to extend our open hand of fellowship wherever people are willing to meet it.

In concert with our current efforts, we welcome continuous feedback and suggestions from our community about how we can further prioritize our attendees’ physical and psychological safety. We invite you to share these suggestions (or concerns) at [email protected], which is monitored by staff throughout the Summit.
